If the selected piece of furniture carries this quality mark, you are on the safe side regarding quality, safety and healthy living, because manufacturers with a DGM certification produce their furniture in accordance with the strict test criteria of the Deutsche Gütegemeinschaft Möbel e.V.
The main focus of the Deutsche Gütegemeinschaft Möbel e.V. (DGM) based in Fürth, Germany, is the quality of furniture because this quality has a strong effect on the quality of life at home. The credibility of a quality standard depends on various factors.
As part of this overall objective of quality, the basic principle of the Deutsche Gütegemeinschaft Möbel e.V. (DGM) is clearly stated by its umbrella organisation RAL: “A quality association is an amalgamation of companies who have made it their goal to ensure the quality of their products and services and who voluntarily assume the ensuing requirements and obligations.” In concrete terms, this means that furniture manufacturers have their furniture tested voluntarily according to the current DGM quality and testing regulations (acc. to RAL-GZ 430).
The Deutsche Gütegemeinschaft Möbel e.V. aims at giving consumers more confidence when it comes to purchasing furniture. The “Golden M” provides an orientation for consumers with regard to what they need to take into account when purchasing furniture and which quality, safety and environment criteria a furniture item carrying the quality mark must meet.
In addition to the “Golden M”, other labels for quality and environment were developed. Furniture manufacturers must qualify for these labels in order to fulfil the strict certification requirements.
Thus, consumers are always on the safe side with the DGM.
